I have an issue with people who let their cats wander the neighborhood. I understand that cats have a desire to be outdoors, but honestly, do you know what a nuisance your wandering cat be?
This neighbor of mine, three houses down from me, has a black tortie cat that is ALWAYS coming over to harass my cats. We have the backyard converted into a giant enclosure for us and the cats. Keeps the cats safe from attack by wild animals and dogs. However, it does not stop harassments. Dogs know better not to come over, except for this cat. Last night, this cat was fighting with Molly through the fence. The walls of The Cage as we call it, are made of horse wire fencing, with 2″ by 3″ openings. The two of them were screaming, biting, spitting and clawing through the fencing. They could have hurt themselves real bad if snagged a claw on the fence. My husband ran outside and chased the cat off, brought molly in to inspect.
This isn’t the only instance. Other times, that cat will sit outside and stare at molly in the window, and the cat will be taunting molly, making her go into a froth hissing and growling. That cat also jumps up at the window, and molly goes absolutely crazy.
“Let the 2 of them get together for a fight.”
If that happened, we would have big vet bills.
That cat is out EVERY night, and what does it do? Walk around The Cage. I always find cat prints around the outside, and dirt pawprints on the outside wall under molly’s favorite window.
I want to tell that cat’s owner to restrain their cat because it is causing anger in my cat. And when miss molly gets worked up and has no vent, what does she do? She takes it out on US. She attacks Happy, and even has attacked my husband and me. Yesterday, she attacked my husband and clawed, bit his right leg.
I know better not to go near molly when she’s worked up because of that cat. We’ve chased that cat off so many times. Nothing works. We’re talking about erecting a second fence 2 ft outside just to keep that cat from getting up close.
Those people are the same ones who don’t do anything with their 2 dogs. Their brown lab dog wanders onto our property and shits. I’ve stepped into a surprise more than 3 times on my way to work, and gotten startled when it comes running up to me when I’m not expecting it. It’s also eaten the stale bread we leave for the birds. So we built platforms for birds. That dog also BARKS all night, every night. I’ve never mentioned it before, because I don’t hear it bark, but my husband and Leslie our next-door neighbor has said that dog has been barking every night. It barks then stops and it’s quiet for maybe 5 or 10 minutes, then barks again. Goes like that all night and the owner doesn’t do anything. Our next door neighbors also said that their cat also harasses their dogs. Both of my next-door neighbors have their own dogs and their own run areas. We don’t bother each other and we’re appreciative that the other keeps their animals under control. The next-door neighbors love that we have our cats leash trained.
